Cedar Falls History
The story of Cedar Falls Residents Cooperative is still being written. While residents continue to work together to strengthen and improve our community, we also take time to recognize those who helped make it all possible. Their commitment, perseverance, and belief in resident ownership laid the foundation for the thriving cooperative we enjoy today. This page is dedicated to preserving and celebrating that history.

The story of Cedar Falls Residents Cooperative began when Ronnie Pinkham and Al MacNevin signed the final documents to purchase Cedar Falls Mobile Home Park on behalf of the community. That historic moment marked the beginning of resident ownership and a shared commitment to building a stronger, more connected neighborhood. From that day forward, the community embarked on a new chapter together as Cedar Falls Residents Cooperative.
Our Story

In 2025, Cedar Falls Mobile Home Park reached a historic milestone when residents came together to purchase the 79-acre community and establish it as a resident-owned cooperative. This achievement was made possible through the vision, dedication, and countless hours of work contributed by the cooperative's founding members, whose commitment laid the foundation for the community's future. Working alongside the Cooperative Development Institute, local and state partners, lenders, and the City of Bangor, residents successfully completed the $8 million purchase, ensuring that the land beneath their homes would remain under resident ownership. This milestone created long-term stability for current and future residents while preserving the community that so many proudly call home. Since becoming resident-owned, Cedar Falls has continued to build strong partnerships with organizations including Bangor Housing and MaineHousing to strengthen the community and support future growth, including plans to develop the park's vacant lots with additional affordable homes.

Moving Forward

Becoming a resident-owned community was not the finish line, it was the beginning of a new chapter. Over the past year, our Board of Directors and property manager have worked tirelessly alongside engineers, the City of Bangor, Bangor Housing, and other valued partners to secure the approvals and licenses needed to responsibly expand Cedar Falls. These efforts will make it possible to bring new homes into our community while supporting Bangor Housing's commitment to increasing the availability of safe, affordable housing throughout the city.
Every meeting, every plan, and every milestone has been guided by a shared vision: preserving the community we are proud to call home while creating opportunities for future generations. The progress we have made reflects the power of residents working together with dedicated partners toward a common goal. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to protecting the values on which this cooperative was founded: stability, affordability, and neighbors helping neighbors. The future of Cedar Falls is being built together, and we are excited for what lies ahead.
